NAIFA National By-Law Committee put forth a by-law
change proposal earlier this year that would permit
Candidate Members to hold the local chapter offices of
Secretary and Treasurer. That proposal was unanimously
approved at the October 2004 National Education
Conference in Chicago. Previously, those offices
required a member to hold at a minimum the IFA
designation. Also approved was the proposal to permit
Candidate Members to vote in local chapter elections.
Retained was the By-Law that prohibits a Candidate
Member from holding any State, Regional, or National
office.
Our chapter was represented at the National Education
Conference by President Randy Shervey, past President
Lloyd Werner, and Second Vice President Joni Cook.
Margaret Sullivan, Executive Vice President of NAIFA
will be retiring from that position. She will be greatly
missed by all of us who have had the pleasure of knowing
her personally.
2) Speaker - Randy Shervey, Joni Cook, and
Lloyd Werner will speak on their attendance of the NAIFA
Education Conference at Chicago in October.

Tentative speakers will be worked in according to
their individual schedules. Please keep in mind
the lineup is “tentative”. It is beyond our control if
cancellations occur. We have experienced considerable
difficulty in scheduling
David Santhuff, Appraiser Program Manager of the Dept of
Licensing for the State of Washington. We hope to
schedule a two hour continuing education class featuring
both Mr. Santhuff and Bob Keith, Oregon’s Administrator
of the Appraiser Certification and Licensure Board .
- January 10, 2005 - Installation of new chapter
officers.
- February 14 - Mindy Sullivan, VP Lawyers Title
Insurance Corp.
- March 14 - Portland Metro Association of
Realtors and RMLS.
